Simplicity of use, easy location of our products; those are the two targets our website search system aims at. The search system consists of two basic parts. The fast search which offers you the quickest way to locate a book in our catalogue and the advanced search which gives you the opportunity to look for a book using information like the author's name, title of the book, year or month of publication, language, ISBN, etc.
At the right side of all our website pages you will find the "Search" option which consists of a text frame in which you can type one or more keywords to search for.
In the text frame you should always use words which consist of 3 or more letters. The search based on these keywords will be limited to the title or the author of a certain book. The keywords do not have to be full words, but just parts of words. For example, you do not have to write the full surname of an author but just a part of it. In addition to the keywords you can use the following two special search terms: "and" / "or". These special search terms can only be used between keywords which they join depending on the function of each term.
The term "and" is used to denote that two keywords should both exist in each book in order for it to be relevant to the search terms.
For example if in a text frame you use the following: Civil and Law, then the search results will include books containing the words Civil and Law either in the author's name or in the title of the book.
The term "or" is used to denote that if either of two keywords exists in a certain book, then this book will be considered relevant to the search terms. For example if in a text frame you use the following: Civil or Law, then the search results will include books containing either the word Civil or the word Law, either in the author's name or in the title of the book.
At the right side of all our website pages and under the text frame for fast search, you will find a link leading to the advanced search. Using the advanced search you can improve upon your search results, looking for keywords with regard to specific details of a certain book. The details of the book on which you can base your search are the following: Author's name, title of the book, scientific series, date or year of publication, language, ISBN, subject.
In order to use the advanced search you should use at least one of the above-mentioned details in order to achieve the greatest possible accuracy. When you use the author's name, the title of the book or the ISBN, you should use keywords and the special search terms the same way you do when you use the fast search. When you use the date or year of publication, you should use numbers in the following way: From... to...
For example if you use the years 2005 and 2006 in the text frame, then you will receive as a result the books which were published in 2005 and 2006.
